These notes are only partial and are designed to accompany the sermon.  Please join us each Sunday morning for the full experience!

Myth: "I don't need church" Me and Jesus do just fine.  There is an epidemic of Christians that remain "unchurched."

Romans 12:1-16

How do people change?

  • Vs. 1 All change involves our bodies
  • Vs. 2 All change involves our thoughts
  • Vs. 3-16 All change involves the Church
-The common starting point of change
-We have a common membership (Vs. 4-5).  We are members of a body.
-We have common needs (Vs. 6)

Why do you need church?  You can get all the content you want by iPod or books or online.  Why do you have to take time out and the trouble of driving out to get more deeply involved with other Christians to be a follower of Christ?

  • Vs. 7 Without church where will you go for teaching?
  • Vs. 8 Where would you go for encouragement
  • Vs. 11 How do you keep burning hot for God for a decade?
  • Vs. 9 Without the church, where will you go to break a bad habit?
  • Vs.8 Without the church, where will you go for comfort?

Bottom line: We need church.

  • We need the church's teaching
  • We need the church's encouragement
  • We need the church's support
  • When you are going through loss, you need the church's guidance
  • We need the church's guidance on how to live a good life in this less than perfect world
