Six Debt Danger Signs

  1. Living on credit instead of paying cash.  Proverbs 3:27-28, Proverbs 27:1
  2. Delaying payments or paying the minimum payment.
  3. Unable to tithe or save.  Malachi 3:8
  4. Unable to pay taxes.
  5. Extravagant spending.
  6. Looking for get rich quick schemes.  Proverbs 21:5

Nine Steps to Becoming Debt Free

  1. Commit to becoming debt free now.  Psalm 37:21
  2. List all things that I own or that I owe.  Proverbs 24:3, Proverbs 18:13
  3. Sell some of your stuff.  Ezekiel 20:7
  4. Start paying God (tithe) and yourself (savings) first.  Deuteronomy 14:23
  5. Set up a repayment plan.  Proverbs 21:5, 20:18
  6. Decide to do it in half the time.  Luke 18:27
  7. Share my plan with my creditors.  Proverbs 6:7
  8. Add no new debt.  Hebrews 13:5, 1 Timothy 6:6
  9. Trust God and stick to it.
