These notes are only partial and are designed to accompany the sermon. Please join us each Sunday morning for the full experience!
Introduction: Ephesians 5:17
Why are we doing a study on God's will?
- Because there is so much misunderstanding on the subject.
- Because there is a lot of abuse of this subject.
- Does God have a specific will for each individual?
- Who am I supposed to marry?
- What if my person is in Bolivia?
Historically God's will has been studied in three categories:
God's Sovereign will, God's Moral will and God's individual will.
- God's Sovereign will. Isaiah 40:3-5. God's sovereign will is his secret plan that controls the outcome of all matters in the universe. Nothing can thwart God's sovereign will.
Eight verses about God's sovereign will; Proverbs 16:33, Proverbs 21:1, Acts 2:23, Acts 4:27, Romans 9:18, Ephesians 1:11, Romans 8:28, Revelation 4:11 - God's Moral will. Isaiah 40:6-8. God's moral will is revealed to us in the Bible.

It is God's moral will for you to be sanctified. 1 Thessalonians 4:3, 2 Peter 1:3-4, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
